This plant isn’t doing so well. A lot of the leaves are turning brown and they have this odd white stuff on them?

Insanely bad mealy bug infestation. It’s going to be really, really hard to get rid of that on this plant. I’d cut your losses and try again. I’m sorry

There is a bit of plant among the pest.

I’m not sure if it’s a nightmare on elm street, tuesday the 13th or the exorcist.

Natures recycling team! They are here to help guide the dead to the afterlife.

  5. Palms can come back from a full chop. Cut it back to about two inches above the soil. Treat the stump with a pest spray like captain jacks dead bug brew, purive, or whatever you like to use. Then sprinkle systemic pesticides, I like the one by bonide (follow the directions). Try to stick to its normal watering schedule and boom healthy plant

Was really hoping it wasn’t what I thought it was. That bad you need to be real careful other plants aren’t infected.

I’d be perfect for Halloween decoration!

Think you’ve got it backwards. You’ve got some palm on your mealybugs.

How did it take you this long to notice it when it’s THIS BAD 😭

Jesus Christ is this the first time looking at your plant?

  13. MikeCheck_CE

Oh lordy- take outside and kill with 🔥

  15. madame-olga

That’s what I call a “kill it with fire” before it gets on your other plants. Sorry OP, that plant is toast 🙁

Treat all your houseplant, mealy bugs fly! Keep up with treatment for at least 4 weeks.

Neem oil is what’s said to help. Also an alcohol spray, I used to hit them with it on a cotton swab and it was very satisfying!

I thought this had to be r/houseplantscirclejerk….

That’s a nightmare. Burn it. Move on. Start a new life.

  20. I have a ponytail palm that had a bad investation. I put it outisde, hosed it down, neemed it and left it for the summer. I just checked it yesterday ( I have it in the trees so the leaves don’t burn) and it’s doing great. No more infestation! I was ready to chuck it though if it didn’t work.

    Good luck OP!

  21. That’s a reason to consider burning your house down 😰

  22. thesmudge__rebellion

oh no, i’m so sorry, this is so mean but i thought this was r/houseplantcirclejerk for a sec because this mealybug infestation is so bad 😭 good luck, OP!

  23. beautifulchaos22

Yeah, I’m gonna suggest tossing that in a dumpster…. That’s on fire…. That’s 1000km away from your house lol

  24. GlumMess3070

Those bugs are paying rent , might as well cut your loss I’m sorry. 😭

  25. flyingphoenix_20

Throw it away immediately along with the soil and cut your losses. A few years back I tried getting rid of them from a dracaena and was unsuccessful. I had to throw away 30% of my plants a year later to finally get rid of those pesky bugs.

That’s a bad infestation. I’m agreeing with others here that say it might just be time to let that plant go as it is difficult to get rid of them when the infestation is this bad. Sorry. Mealybugs destroyed my favorite begonia a few years ago and I still hate the little buggers with all my heart.

Burn down that house and move to a different continent.

  28. You have a bit of parlor palm on your pests.
